On Feb. 5, 2021, Lake County State’s Attorney Eric Rinehart announced the expansion of the Lake County Domestic Violence Council and Sexual Assault Coordinating Council, doubling the number of meetings held each year. In addition, more resources were moved into the Domestic Violence and Sex Crimes Division of the State’s Attorney’s office, so outreach into every corner of the country could be expanded, including to meet the need identified by the council of additional educational services for victims and increased speed in communication with victims.
The Councils are comprised of experienced and passionate professionals across the community. From the State’s Attorney’s Office, Domestic Violence Division Chief Lauren Callinan has provided police chiefs across Lake County with new protocols that Rinehart said will help officials reach victims more quickly. Sandra Bankston leads the office’s effort in providing therapy for victims. Our office, and the Council members, remain dedicated to improving services for victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse.
