The Lake County State’s Attorney Felony Trial Division consists of 20 staff members, including a Division Chief, Assistant State’s Attorneys, Victim Specialists, and Legal Assistants. It is responsible for prosecuting a wide variety of different offenses, from property crimes to drug and weapons offenses. The Felony Trial Division also prosecutes many homicides and violent crimes that are not assigned to one of the office’s specialized divisions. In addition to prioritizing its efforts to focus on the prosecution of violent crime, it is also concentrated on finding the best possible outcomes for the victims, community, and offenders in non-violent crimes.
With that goal in mind, the Felony Trial Division works closely with the Rehabilitative Services Division to achieve the right outcome on cases involving first-time and non-violent offenders. In addition to prosecuting cases, the Felony Trial Division also works in cooperation with the Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group (LCMEG) and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Group participating in proactive investigations.
